Maria Claudia Almeida Silva from TMD House in the City of God favela climbed to the top of the podium to claim the brown belt featherweight title for the 3rd time at the 2022 Worlds in California.
At 18 years old, Almeida has accumulated an impressive number of titles including 3x Brazilian National Champion, Pan American Champion, and World Pro Champion.
Before leaving the pyramid we caught up with Maria and her trainer Marcio de Deus, who although elated at the success of his students, talks about the work that still needs to be done in the communities like City of God.
