In a special clip released by the BJJ Goons Podcast, Tim Spriggs talks about how Than Le (13-2) made slight work of Garry Tonon (6-1) at the ONE Championship Lights Out on March 11th..
What can we learn from this?
“If you rely on heelhooks, you’re going to get punched in the face”
Of course there’s more to it than that.
Jiu-jitsu is great for self-defense, but it’s not enough to defend yourself against an experienced stand up fighter in the ring. Spriggs warns upcoming athletes that being a black belt in jiu-jitsu doesn’t make up for deficiencies in other areas.
