This year Favela Jiu-Jitsu will be sponsoring these three ladies for all of their IBJJF competitions, starting with Brazilian Nationals that will take place next month in Sao Paulo.

Meet our first three sponsored athletes!

Aghata Ribeiro is a blue belt from Projecto Stone, an initiative that was founded by Leninha Capucho (@leninhacapucho on Instagram) from Morro do Dendê community in Ilha do Governador where she still lives today, running the project out of her house.

Aghata (@aghataribeirobjj on Instagram) is the perfect example of focus and determination. She’s always looking to compete and to help in the community. She works at the events, goes to college at UFRJ and helps with the children’s classes at the project.

Izabella Moreira (@bela_santosbjj) is a blue belt that trains at Terere Kids Project. Born and raised in the Cantagalo favela Izabella, started training under the influence of her older brother. Now she is an active competitor, often taking fights out of her weight class and coming out victorious!

Last, but certainly not least, is Larah Bandeira (@larahbandeira). Competing in the Juvenil 2 division, Larah is repping for the younger generation from Terere Kids Project. Larah lives in the Babilonia/ Chapeu Mangueira favela in Leme and commutes via bike or bus to the project every day to train.
