The AJP Tour South America Continental Pro (June 5 & 6th 2021) was successful this weekend with a lot of amazing fights that were free on the AJP YouTube Channel.
Tournaments are finally starting to occur on a more regular basis in Brazil, and clearly, athletes are ready to compete. This event reached the maximum capacity for 8 fight areas set up in the Fip complex, in Brusque, Santa Catarina.
Divisions ran from youth blue belt to black belt, the best competitors gave their all in search of a podium spot and a piece that cash prize of R$200,000.
Black belts Meyran Alves and Yara Soares, teammates from Guigo Jiu-Jitsu who also traveled together to train at Team Lloyd Irvin for the 2019 competition season.
The Pandemic kept the pair from traveling to the U.S. this year, but that hasn’t stopped their progress. Mey’s hard work and dedication will make him successful no matter where is is, and Yara, for the last 6 months, has had the opportunity to top level training Dream Art Project.

Meyran Alves
Recently awarded his black belt from Guigo Jiu-Jitsu, Mey was relentless in his pursuit of gold. He dominated in the black belt 62 kg division beating Hiago George in the finals.

Yara Soares
Yara Soares and Gabriela Pessanha have faced off several times before. They went 1-1 at the 2019 Worlds as brown belts after meeting each other in their both weight and absolute finals. Yara who has been training at Dream Art for the last 6 months was able to win over the reigning champion from the TMD House social project in City of God Favela.
